Ebenezer Chapel, Newport
Ebenezer Chapel, Newport is a Grade II Listed building at the heart of this North Pembrokeshire town. Faced with falling congregations, the Chapel management recognised that the cold and inaccessible ecclesiastical building was failing to meet the needs of both its congregation and the wider community. Harries Planning Design Management worked on behalf of the Chapel to redesign the building and obtain the necessary planning consents.
Our project management service ensured that the works were then overseen to completion. The Chapel now offers a warm, comfortable and accessible building for religious meetings, concerts and other community events. We’re proud to have been instrumental in a project which has not only breathed life into this building using some traditional building techniques, but has also strengthened community links.
Our involvement extended from drawing up the plans and obtaining building consent to scheduling the works, preparing detailed designs and tendering the works. We reported on the tender and prepared contract documents. As the 6 month project progressed, we chaired monthly meetings, agreed variations, prepared valuations and certified monies owing to the contractor and finally inspected the works and agreed the final account.
Project highlights:
"We have worked with HPDM on a number of projects where they have been successful in securing planning consents to maximise value. Wyn and his team have an excellent knowledge of the planning framework and how to navigate the process in a practical, no-nonsense way to ensure that clients get the best outcome. We would have no hesitation in recommending their services."
