Mansel Davies & Son Ltd Garage Facility and VOSA Testing Station

Creating this purpose built garage facility for local haulage firm Mansel Davies & Sons Ltd involved a number of design challenges, not least incorporating the very exacting standards of the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency.

Mansel Davies & Son Ltd run (among other things) a large bulk liquid haulage operation with close to 100 articulated tankers collecting and delivering milk across Wales, as well as smaller vehicles on the roads. They also operate a freight business.

The brief was to create additional capacity for the client for vehicle servicing and to build a VOSA Testing station on site in the business’s existing transport yard. At all stages of construction, the client was keen to maintain ‘business as usual’. Bringing the project together after the design stage and seeing the planning application through involved careful project management to ensure that the client’s operation was not disrupted, and that a number of specialists and bespoke pieces of equipment such as the inspection pits, rolling road and brake testing stations were correctly installed
